The design features an open plan kitchen/living/dining space on the ground floor; the area is demarcated by multiple level and material changes, as well elements designed to serve both a functional and structural purpose. To work with the unique characteristics of the site the front and side elevations are devoid of windows, ample light quality is instead guaranteed from large roof lights in addition to glazing facing the garden and strip of high level glazing running around 3 sides of the property.

 

Supplementary living areas in addition to the bedrooms are situated at basement level. To ensure the maximum quality of the basement space it is designed around a generous sunken garden and heavily glazed to make the most of the buildings orientation within the site; Furthermore through the specification of walk on glass and offsetting the basement and ground floor plans large light-wells were created to give additional light from above.

 

Planning was granted for the development, in green belt, under delegated powers in early January 2017.
